In exterior construction for high-rise buildings or apartments, railing dimensions are a top priority. Unfortunately, many tragic accidents have occurred because homeowners overlooked the importance of quality standards and design guidelines for railings. To ensure maximum safety, take a few minutes to read this article by Butraco.
According to TCVN 4319:2012, the standard for railings requires that multi-story buildings and high-rise residential spaces must install railings. So, what are the standard railing heights to ensure safety?
The maximum height for railings is 120 cm, and the minimum height is 85 cm. If the open space (clear width) of the railing is less than 100 cm, an additional handrail is required. If the height exceeds 100 cm, it is recommended to have handrails on both sides.
For buildings with fewer than 9 floors, specific railing dimensions are generally not required. The dimensions may vary based on each project, but a height of 1.1 m is usually recommended for optimal safety. In some cases, a height of 85 cm to 90 cm may still be acceptable.
Typically, the railing height is measured from the center of the stair tread to the top of the handrail, which is usually around 90 cm.
To select the most suitable railing design for your project or home, customers should consider the following criteria:
